Noticed this forum doesn't get a ton of use, so here's a little jump-start effort.

Hi, my name is Markus, and I like roped climbing more than bouldering. I know, I know, this doesn't make me overly popular; in fact, I'm fairly certain I'm less bronzed and rippling simply because of this single lonely preference. I enjoy tying good knots, and I like the idea of betting a little bit of my personal safety against my ability to properly use the safety equipment. I like having a little bit of fear grip me at the top of a run, and I love that every climbing problem is a unique canvas, painted upon by each climber differently, even when the holds are exactly the same.

I'm in the gym mostly with my gf Haley, and we're in the process of working to be able to consistently climb 5.10, the prerequisite for the lead climbing course. We're close (her more than me), but not quite there yet.

We've used our last several vacations to check out a few of the other climbing gyms in B.C. So far we've been to the ones in Nanaimo, Kamloops, and Kelowna, each of which was rewarding in its own way. We've discovered that Brock's runs are pretty sternly graded, but it's kind of nice going into those other gyms and beating runs with grades we can't do at Project. Don't worry Brock, your gym is still the best.

Medium term goal is to climb The Chief in Squamish, long term goal is Annapurna, but that one's probably more of a pipe dream.

Anyone else feel like putting in a few words about themself?
